About the Owners
Kelsey
With a lifelong passion for birds, I began my journey at A Bird Haven in Escondido, where I gained hands-on experience in bird grooming and care. I also worked at the San Diego Zoo, helping raise, enrich, and care for a variety of species, including California Condors and other vulture species, parrots, softbills, and more, focusing on daily care and well-being. Additionally, I have researched local endangered bird species through CSUSM, further strengthening my dedication to conservation. I now bring this expertise to my breeding program, offering ethically raised, healthy birds to loving homes. We emphasize natural behaviors, allowing our birds to remain fully flighted and encouraging fledging to support their physical and emotional development. I am deeply committed to conservation and the preservation of species and subspecies, with a special love for Poicephalus parrots.
Nathan
Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, I moved to California with the U.S. Navy, completing my service in 2019. My passion for animal care began with my family’s dogs, where I saw firsthand the transformative effect of proper diet and husbandry. Now, I apply that knowledge to our birds, ensuring they receive a well-rounded diet and the highest standards of care. In addition to working alongside Kelsey in raising birds, I offer welding services and build custom aviaries, helping create safe and enriching environments. I also craft toys to provide our birds with the mental and physical stimulation they need for a happy, healthy life.
